(Rock Port) — Members of the Rock Port R-2 School Board Thursday got a taste of what the district’s students have for lunch every day.
Officials with Lunchtime Solutions, the outside company handling the district’s food services, served dinner for the board during its regular meeting Thursday evening. The board approved a contract with the company last year upon the retirement of the district’s longtime food services director. While saying the costs are comparable, Rock Port Junior-Senior High School Principal Craig Walker tells KMA News school officials have noticed an uptick in the number of students buying meals from the district since Lunchtime Solutions took over.
“Our participation in school lunches went way up,” said Walker. “Just the other week, we were in the 90th percentile in the number of students purchasing lunch. Our kids are much happier about the lunches we’re giving them.”
