Lunchtime Solutions partners with Cookies Sauces to wrangle up delicious grub for students across the Midwest
WALL LAKE, IA – Creamy mac ‘n’ cheese, pulled pork and French fried onions slathered in tangy Cookies barbecue sauce… in a burrito? You’re darn tootin’, and it will be coming to a Lunchtime Solutions cafeteria near you this November!
Dubbed the “Cowboy ‘Rito,” this unique creation was conceived by the culinary team at Lunchtime Solutions, a North Sioux City, SD-based K-12 food service management company that serves 48 school districts across the Midwest. The burrito is one of seven that will appear on all Lunchtime Solutions’ menus as part of this year’s featured entrée program, “Rito In-cog-NEAT-O.”
“The concept was to push the boundaries of what a burrito can be,” said Deni Winter, Director of Business Development and Marketing. “This one literally tastes like a picnic in your mouth. It is really delicious.”
Cookies Original BBQ sauce is a big part of what makes the Cowboy ‘Rito so good, she said.
“When we were thinking of the ingredients, Cookies came to mind immediately,” Winter said. “Not only do we use Cookies barbecue sauce at all of our schools because it tastes great, we value our partnerships with local businesses and farmers. It’s a natural fit for us and the students we feed each day.”
Speed Herrig of Cookies Food Products agrees that it’s a valuable partnership. “We take great pride in the quality of our sauces and enjoy working with companies like Lunchtime Solutions who are using our products in creative ways within our regional school systems,” said Herrig.
Lunchtime Solutions professionally manages foodservice operations in 48 school districts in six states: Nebraska, South Dakota, Missouri, Minnesota, Iowa, and Colorado. Launched with a single school district in 1997, the locations served by LSI have grown quickly based on the quality of the foodservice experience provided to students, faculty and staff. Lunchtime Solutions was named to Food Management magazine’s annual Top 50 Contract Management Companies for the second time in 2018.
